How to make it through life? - Healthy life of
young people
From our
point of view healthy life of young people consists of five basic needs, which
are nutrition, resting, physical exercise, creativeness and expressing emotions.
One part of healthy life is nutrition. Young
people should be aware of the food they are eating. They should have enough
nutrition and also have regular eating times. Healthy nutrition is not about
the amount of food you eat, but about the quality of the food. You should make sure, that you get enough
energy and vitamins. You should also be aware, that drinking too much alcohol
and caffeine, and eating sugar and fast food is bad for your health. Eating
culture is also a part of social behavior and therefore it is good to share
your meal times with other people. It also prevents you to eat too fast.
Another view to healthy life is resting. Young
people should sleep approximately 8 hours per night. However the time may vary
and it depends on your personal need for resting. In case you are not having
enough sleep per night you may feel tired, un-concentrated and it can influence
your emotional and social life, which can also easily affect to your
successfulness in school, work, hobbies etc.
Besides resting young people also need to do
enough physical exercise to have enough power. Physical activity is also good
for your mental health. The most important thing is that you exercise at least
30 minutes per day. However, it can be any kind of exercise you like to do. You
don´t have to be an athletic to keep yourself fit. Physical activity can mean
that you can for example do different things in your everyday life, like
working in the garden, cleaning, walking or cycling to school. In addition to
that you can also join a sport club or go to a gym. You can choose to exercise
alone or in a group. The advantage of group sports is though that you meet with
other people and can make new friends. Already playing just for fun keeps you
fit.
Nowadays we have to use our brains for logical
thinking quite a lot, which means that our brains are all the time overloaded.
Especially for our mental health it is important that we also use our
creativeness. In this way we have the chance to express our emotions, but also to
be more innovative in our studying and working life. There are many ways of
being creative. One can like more drawing and for another person music can be
more suitable way to express her- or himself. For being creative you need to
have enough time and space in order to be able to relax and enjoy.
Nowadays many young people have problems especially
dealing with their emotions. Emotions are a part of life and they should be
fully accepted. In order to accept emotions you have to be able to recognize
different feelings in yourself. Don´t try to hide your emotions, otherwise they
might harm your mental life. It is better to express all the emotions openly from
happiness till sadness and share them with other people. Showing emotions means
that you are also able to control your behavior for example when feeling angry.
Especially while having negative feelings you should remember, that you are not
allowed to harm other people. In case you are facing problems with your mental
health, don´t hesitate to ask help from other people. It is totally acceptable
to feel weak sometimes.
The most important need of these five needs
mentioned above is the need of expressing your emotions. It is like the
foundation of life. In case you are mentally satisfied with your life, you also
have enough power to take care for your other needs in life.
